The Schaller Model 723 (10/84) Oyster Pickup is identical to the 721 and 722 internal mount Oyster pickups, but is intended for external mounting on the instrument. The Model 723 Oyster Pickup is provided with a durable chrome-plated casing, and includes a 10 foot long pre-attached cable with a standard 1/4" plug.

The Schaller Model 723 Oyster Pickup consists of a polished chrome piezo 'oyster' capsule with a chrome plated cover that is pre-wired to a standard 1/4" instrument cable. The Model 723 pickup is specifically designed for use on the outside of a guitar or acoustic bass, but can also be used on other stringed instruments. The Model 723 pickup sensor is mounted to the outside surface of the instrument with adhesive putty (included). Sound reproduction, as with all Oyster models, is extremely broadband, so further sound processing is usually not necessary.

The Schaller Model 723 Oyster pickup is well suited for steel or nylon string acoustic guitar and bass, but can also be used on a wide variety of other stringed, hollow body instruments such as mandolin, lute, dulcimer, autoharp, oud, bouzouki, harp and others. Not suitable for use with banjos or other instruments with minimal body resonance.

Schaller's patented Oyster pickups provide powerful and lifelike sound reproduction of the instrument without the need for active circuitry and preamplification. The excellent sound reproduction is achieved through a unique combination of a specially designed membrane, a piezoelectric element and a plastic contact gel.

The L.R. Baggs iBEAM Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System combines the iBeam transducer pickup with an all-discrete, Class A FET preamp built on a stereo Strapjack and pre-tuned to deliver plug-and-play L.R. The L.R. Baggs M-1 is a humbucking pickup with a twist. In a common stacked humbucker, the second, lower coil cancels hum, but doesn't contribute anything positive to the sound. In fact, it can muddy the sound of the main coil. The M1 unlocks the second coil. This allows it to make a positive sonic contribution while maintaining the pure open sound of a single coil -- but without the hum. 

The hum-canceling coil is suspended under the main coil by a tuned support that allows it to move in 3 dimensions. The primary coil moves with the guitar top and creates a body signal in the suspended secondary coil. This brings the M1 to life, with string and body sound all in one. It's like having a dual pickup system in your soundhole. The support is carefully tuned to control motion in all 3 dimensions. This allows you to selectively add the presence and realism from the body signal while suppressing runaway feedback.
